Windows Movie Maker for Education

WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER

INTRODUCTION
Windows Movie Maker is a basic video creating and editing software included in Microsoft Windows. It contains features such as effects, transitions, titles/credits, audio track, timeline narration, and Auto Movie. Windows Movie Maker is also a basic audio track editing program. It can apply basic effects to audio tracks such as fade in or fade out. The audio tracks can then be exported in the form of a sound file instead of a video file.

BENEFIT OF USING WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER
First of all, Windows Movie Maker is an easy-to-learn video editing application included in all versions of Windows XP and Vista. This program is free on any windows operating system. It can bring together video, audio, and other multimedia content, then arrange and edit the content to create a finished movie. There are over 130 effects, transitions, titles, and credits available in the program.
Besides, Windows Movie Maker gives an opportunity to develop our own creativity. We can mix pictures, video clips, music, audio and topping them off with titles, credits and so on. After creating the movie, we can save it on a hard disk, CD, or DVD, send it in an e-mail, or send it to a video hosting provider on the Web. These tasks are kept simple with an interface based mostly on drag-and-drop and on short lists of tasks from which to choose. Moreover, it is easier to send out a video file using Windows Movie Maker compared to a Power Point Presentation.  The Video can reach more people and therefore be more effective. Almost everyone can use a DVD player, but there are a lot of people who do not know how to run a Power Point Presentation.
Other than that, we can include the narration using Windows Movie Maker. It wills a give a great experience as we can put our own narration. This tool can give benefit especially in the area of education. The effective classroom environment can be created when teachers or educators use the technology as their teaching and learning aid. Last but not least, Windows Movie Maker is pretty straightforward. Thus, we do not really need film editing experience in order to use windows media player.

DISADVANTAGES OF USING WINDOWS MOVIE MAKER
Windows Movie Maker also has its disadvantages. This program is known for suffering from frequent crashes and freezes. It usually froze while importing MPG video files and has many problems to create even a short video. So, we cannot do complex editing using this program and have to to be patient as sometimes we need to restart this application every few minutes.
